The beginning of the end
It's the beginning of the end of the school year and I am so not prepared for it! Brendan's last lunch bunch was last week and I didn't even realize it! I am very glad (selfish though it was) that I didn't drive for their field trip that day. At least I was able to have my last weekday lunch by myself, although had I known it was the last time I would have done more shopping etc. His last day of school is in 2 1/2 weeks and then Ian's will be a week or two after that. What will I do with them all summer?? They've been playing together a lot better lately--I just hope that continues through the summer. I can take them into the pool by myself now since Ian can swim by himself so that will help too. We can have playdates with Sammy and Carter and go see Dave for lunch sometimes. We have vacation the first week of July, and then Brendan has summer fun for 3 weeks in July which will be fun for him and a bit of a respite for me.
I'll definitely have to make goals either here or in my calendar, otherwise time will just slip away from me and nothing will get done. If I don't have any plans then I tend to get bogged down with "well I should do this but don't really want to" or "there are so many things to do I am overwhelmed so lets not do anything". Hopefully I'll be able to stay on track with the garden and maybe even with my cross stitching.
With that in mind here are this weeks goals:
Gardening
Spray roses
Weed pool garden
Cross Stitch
Start Seasonal RR

It's Friday
And it's actually not that bad LOL ;). Mom won't be coming up as planned today because she's not feeling well, but she hopes to make it up tomorrow. I'm actually quite relieved--it means I could relax for most of the day. I spent the morning running around like a crazy person getting stuff ready for her to come, so because it's all done now I don't have to worry. Even though I'll be alone tonight since Dave's going to the movies, at least I'll be able to do what I want to without feeling like I have to entertain her.
I didn't stitch last night since I went out to eat and drive, but this morning I got the floss I needed for Tanya's bead RR so I will start on that after the boys are in bed. Hopefully it won't take more than a couple of days to do even with mom here.
The weather is supposed to be very nice on Sunday so I'll probably spend the day doing gardening stuff. I bought some more plants today for pots including a fuschia and I can't wait to get them in :). I've never grown a fuschia before so it should be interesting to see how it turns out. My tuberous begonias finally arrived and I need to get them in as soon as possible because they take so long to grow. I guess I should be glad they arrived now as it's planting time but I was really hoping to get them started early indoors...
Stay tuned ;)

Mid week ramblings
Well, I've only accomplished one of my stitching goals and none of my gardening goals. It's been cold and blah outside and I've had a wicked sinus headache all week. For stitching I've been working on the PR gardening freebie the last 3 nights and it's quite lovely :). Tonight I need to start on the bead RR which finally made it here yesterday. I'll work on that until it's finished and then start the other RRs (except on Monday when I'll start Secret Flower Bed).
Mom's coming tomorrow which hopefully will be fun. Although I'm not sure since Dave wants to go see a movie tomorrow night and has to work Saturday morning. He has lunch with his mom on Sunday and wanted to know if I wanted him to take the boys with him or not. Originally I thought he could leave them here so he could have a nice lunch with his mom, but since he's leaving me alone with them AND mom twice I think I'll let him take them LOL ;).
Ian was asking me about bad words today. I'm not sure where it came from, but I handled it well--calmly and without making a big deal out of it. At one point he asked me what the first bad word was. I told him I didn't know and explained to him that what's thought of as "bad words" has changed throughout history. He asked if the first one was the "s word". I said I didn't know and asked him how he knew about the "s word". He said that he heard it once on Caillou. Needless to say I was surprised that they would discuss such a thing on a kid's show, but said "oh, you mean they didn't actually say the word, they just referred to it". He said no, that someone said stupid so Caillou and Rosie started saying it too. So he thinks stupid is the "s word" and I'm safe for a while longer ;)

Goals for the week
I thought this might be a good place to put down in writing my goals for both stitching and gardening this week.
For stitching:
I'd like to start Tina's Santa RR, V's Garden RR and the seasonal RR
Work on Tina's SSS gift
Finish up the pin that's overdue
Work a bit on the PR gardening freebie
For the garden:
Remove weeds & add compost to Dahlia area (near lily garden)
Plant Dahlias
Plant remaining lilies
Finish weeding over to dogwood tree
Spray roses in front
That's a lot of stuff--I don't know that I'll get it all done, especially in the garden. Tonight I'll go get the compost so I can hopefully (weather permitting) plant the dahlias tomorrow. Depending on how I feel I should be able to do some more weeding this afternoon after Brendan's nap and I can definitely spray the roses then too. As for the cross stitch stuff, I should have all the floss for everything, so starting the RR's should be easy--I never said I'd finish them this week ;). Of course the bead RR is very late in coming to me so when it gets here I have to drop everything to work on that which will probably throw everything else off. *Sigh* oh well, they are all small designs so I'm sure it will all work out :)
I know this is an incredibly boring entry, but it does help so much to put things down in writing ;)
