Disney trip report day 1

Okay, here we go. I haven't done one of these before so please bear with me ;)

Cast of characters:
Holly (me)--planner extraordinaire and tour guide, collector of all things Sleeping Beauty
Dave (dh)--liked the idea but not obsessed like me ;)
Ian (9)--favorite character is Pluto and has become a Pluto collector
Brendan (7)--favorite character is Mickey but sometimes I think it should be Grumpy ;)

Day 1:Our flight left National Airport at 10:00 a.m., so we got up at 6 to finish last minute packing so we could get on the road by 7 to account for traffic. Got to the airport around 8, had a smooth check-in and pretty easy security line. Once we found our gate we got something to eat:

The plane arrived on time so we got on board and found our seats--as you can see they are very excited about their first plane trip ;)

We arrived in Orlando on time (about 12:20 p.m.) and found our way to the Magical Express counter. Got all checked in and got right on a bus--yay! Here's Dad and boys on the bus, very excited to finally be almost there!

I have a picture of the WDW sign somewhere but I can find it at the moment, so I'll try to post it later. We got to the resort (Port Orleans Riverside) about 1:15 (sorry, didn't keep track of time very well ;). After a bit of a wait we were all checked in and on our way to the rooms (another yay--the rooms were ready early!). When we got there we found we had a very cool mousekeeper. For those of you unitiated into Disney-speak I'm referring to housekeeping ;). If you're lucky they leave you cool towel animals--check out the ghosts on the bedposts :)

Because we'd forgotten to bring the lunches we'd packed the night before for the plane we were all starving at this point, so we headed down to the food court for some lunch. After that it was back to the room for some unpacking and settling in before heading to Downtown Disney for dinner at the Rainforest Cafe and shopping:

It was good to be at RFC again--we used to have one here and went there a lot (although it was less expensive than the one at DTD--yikes!). We've taken the boys there since they were small and they were especially happy to be back. After dinner we went to Once Upon a Toy so I could give them their surprise--lightsabers for all 3 of my boys ;). They were a bit tricky to put together at first, but after some help it was all good. They love them and are playing with them as I type . On the boat ride back to POR Dave got a couple of good nighttime shots:

When we got back and got the boys in bed I headed down to bell services to clear up a mix-up with our grocery delivery and to pick up the flowers Dave had sent me. The flowers were supposed to be sent to our room but for some reason weren't--he was not happy because he'd wanted to surprise me ;). I didn't care because they were beautiful and I got to ride one of the trams back to the room--it was impossible to carry a bag of groceries, the flowers and the refillable mugs ;)
Next up our first full day at Epcot!

WOW How fun! I've been to WDW (HA, I read that as Weeks Dye Works and it didn't make much sense lol) VERY cool! LOVE the flowers. You all look so happy. I'm anxiously awaiting the rest of the days entries!
